Meetup.com is a very simple way to find people to come to your event. All you have to do is setup a Meetup.com account and give basic information about your event. When I lived in Beavercreek, Ohio, I was looking for a group of people to help me with my French. I looked on Meetup.com and found at least two groups of people who meet every week for free. Also, I have seen a lot of writer’s workshops and publishing groups publish their events using Meetup.com. It’s worth a try. You have nothing to lose, and if you have an email list of people who might be interested then you’re in luck. Now you can email everyone the link to the info you posted on Meetup.com.
It’s very simple to set up. Don’t worry if you’re not a technically-inclined person. Most of the people who think they are just look the part. You can do whatever they do! I just had to add that. Ok, let’s get started.
The first thing you want to do after you get the landing page is click the sign up link in the top right hand corner.
Once you press the sign up link it should take you to https://secure.meetup.com/register/ which looks like the following figure below. All you need to do now is fill out the simple registration page.
You can also sign up using your facebook account if you already have one. Connecting using facebook is great because you’re directly connected to your peers. It also speeds up the sign-in process. Once you login this is what it looks like.
Once you’re inside your account you’re going to have to press the start button. It should turn read and take you to the “Start” page as depicted in the following image.
Now you should be on your way. Fill out the info as requested under each section labeled with the numbers at the top. So when you finish with the Start Page (“1”) continue on to 2,3,4,and 5. That’s pretty much it. Meetup.com makes it very easy for you to set up your meetings.
