RSS Feed Icon

The following chapters are the most important chapters of this book. Almost everything we have done so far will come down to linking the content from different blogging, photo sharing and video websites and sending it to other locations to be read or displayed.  We want to make sure that our clients, friends, or fans have access to our content at all times. The method used to send out your info (feeds) is called RSS or Really Simply Syndication.

Wikipedia.com describes RSS as follows: “A standardized XML (Extensible Markup Language) file format that allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place”.

                Most of the previous chapters (Twitter.com, Blogger.com, WordPress, flickr.com etc.) will supply you with an RSS feed that will transmit all of your content as soon as you post it. This is going to be useful because you don’t have to reprogram your mobile app manually and send out the updates to the various app store (Apple app store and Android Market etc.). It will update itself automatically.

                Now that you have an understanding of  RSS,  you should understand how imperative it is for you to join every website I have listed. We are going to use those feeds to create various “web apps” for different mobile OS (Operating Systems like Google Android phones and Apple iPhones and iPads).
